The process uses a vertical blast of hot air to remove shrunk wrapping (3) from the head of a wine bottle (2). The time over which the hot air is applied is such that the wrapping material melts and separates (7), extending for up to three seconds with the air temp. between 350 and 600 degrees C. The air may be applied for a period of 1 to 1.5 secs. with the air temp. at 450 degrees. A related feed may use a screw (43) to feed standing bottles in single file along a rail (42) and past an endless moving train of inter-articulated tiles (26a,26b). The train passes over a hot air outlet (35) so that slot holes (29) in individual tiles direct hot air onto a bottle, its constituent tiles travelling at the same speed as the bottles.
|
