Device and switching arrangement for monitoring a lock, for example a steering-wheel lock, in that monitoring circuits having monitoring wires (90, 91) are guided through the bolt (3) and its projecting portion (31) and/or the lock cylinder (4), their leads (93, 94; 95, 96) being guided within the housing (1) to the monitoring circuit (WS) and/or to the switch arrangement (6). There are provided switching arrangements, by means of which, in the event of the destruction of the bolt (3) or lock cylinder (4), the operation of consumers connected to the cable (5) is prevented and/or an alarm is triggered.
