In an oscillator for the generation of a signal with a frequency ranging over a not less than microwave band, it is an object to provide a multiplying oscillation circuit that makes it possible to generate a high frequency signal with a small circuit size and a little electric power consumption and a local oscillator using the multiplying oscillation circuit. The multiplying oscillation circuit includes an oscillation circuit comprised of two negative resistance units (10-11) and a resonator unit (20) connected with the negative resistance units to generate signals (A) and (B) that are reverse in phase to each other in a fundamental wave; and a synthesizing unit (30) that synthesizes the signals (A) and (B) in the same phase to obtain an oscillation signal output. A frequency adjusting unit (40) with a function to suppress the second harmonic wave of the fundamental wave is added to the resonator unit (20), so that the multiplying oscillation circuit obtains a signal with a frequency that is not less than four times as high as the frequency of the fundamental wave.
