A window control mechanism comprises a piston and cylinder type temperature responsive actuating device which is connected. at a leverage of between 1:8 and 1:20 to control divergence of a two-armed linkage hingedly connected between a hinged window and its frame to open and close the window as the temperature changes. The cylinder (13) of the actuating device (10) constitutes a first arm of the two- armed linkage, the cylinder having its front end (14) connected to pivot means (15) at or near one end of a lever arm, (16) which constitutes the second arm of the two-armed linkage. A push rod driven by the piston moves in the cylinder of the actuating device (10), this push rod (17) emerging from the front end of the cylinder (13) and bearing on the second arm (16) by means of a thrust joint (18) located on the second arm (16) near but spaced from the pivot means (15). The rear end of the cylinder (13) is being hingedly connected to a first bracket (22) and the free end of the second arm (16) is hingedly connected to a second bracket (21) each of said brackets being fixable either to the window or to the frame (11, 12). <IMAGE> |
