In the continuous production of methy1 t-buty1 ether, by recovering from reaction mixtures of isobutylene and methano1, the process comprises reacting isobutylene with methano1 (mo1. ratio = 1:0.6˜1.4, temp.=60-100oC, pressure=1-50 atms., and space velocity=0.1˜50 /hr) in the first catalytic bed reactor packed with strong acidic, cationic exchange resin (av. particle size=0.2˜10 mm); recycling part of the product stream, which is 3-15 times the rest, to the first reactor; passing the remaining stream into the second reactor of the same type (temp.=20˜55oC, pressure=1-50 atms., and space velocity=0.1˜50 /hr); then placing this product into a waterinsoluble catalytic bed; andrecovering methy1 tertiary-byty1 ether y distillation.
