For adjustment of the start of delivery a pump element, especially a pump nozzle, is provided with a device which has an arbitrarily actuable thrust piece adjustable in an axial direction in relation to a rotationally fixed plunger, which thrust piece is rotatably connected to the pump plunger but positively connected in an axial direction. Incorporation of this device adjusting the start of delivery into the pump element results in a compact construction which is cost-effective to manufacture.
