PURPOSE:To obtain an ink ribbon feeder capable of automatically controlling the feeding pitch of ribbon according to judged results by a method in which a hole is provided in an ink ribbon cassette, and the kind of ribbon is judged on whether or not a claw is inserted into the hole. CONSTITUTION:A hole 102 is provided in the bottom of an ink ribbon cassette 1. When a cloth ribbon is charged in the cassette 1, a claw 4 is set in the hole 102. When an one-time ribbon is charged, the claw 4 is not set in the hole 102. On the other hand, a hole 7 through which the tip of the claw 4 set to the cassette 1 is pireced is provided in the cassette-fitting base plate 5 of an ink ribbon feeding machanism 3, and a micro switch 8 is provided below the hole 7. Thus, when the cassette incorporated with a cloth ribbon is set to the base plate 5, the micro switch 8 is operated, whereas when the cassette 1 incorporated with one-time ribbon is set, the micro switch 8 is not operated. According to operative or inoperative condition of the micro switch 8, the rotation amount of a stepping motor for feeding the ribbon is switched and the feeding pitch of the ink ribbon 2 is switched. |
