<p>Method for identifying and/or locating objects transported by means of a conveyor or the like, with the aid of a piece of equipment comprising at least one optical system (7) supplying a substantially plane light beam (9), associated with a light sensor and connected to analysing and processing means, which method is characterised in that it consists in arranging the optical system transversely to the conveyor (1) so as to illuminate the object (11) from the side, in taking measurements representative of the profile of the object whilst it travels through the beam, and in comparing the profile thus defined with profiles memorised beforehand in order to determine the identification, orientation and/or location parameters of the object. <IMAGE></p> |
