PURPOSE:To hold optical positional relation to a carrying object at a fixed level, to prevent device from the generation of defocusing and to input a clear image without forming an autofocusing mechanism by moving an image pickup mechanism while following the carrying object. CONSTITUTION:An X stage 9 is moved by operating a handle 16 and the focal position of a lens system 21 is adjusted so as to be arranged on the surface of a band-like object 3 by a focusing stage 19. When a roller 1 is rotated to travel the band-like object 3, wheels 7 are rotated, and even if the height of the band-like object 3 is vertically varied in the Y direction and inclined in the X direction due to the eccentricity or the like of the roller 1, the optical axis 25 of the lens system 21 and the shaft 24 of the wheels 7 are held at always fixed positional relation through arms 8 and Z and theta stages 11, 12. Since the optical axis 25 of the lens system 21 always intersects with the band-like object 3 orthogonally and the focus of the lens system 21 is held on the surface of the object 3, an ITV camera 22 does not generate the defocusing.
