PURPOSE:To enhance lubricity at an end portion, to reduce a rolling unit and to improve a product profile by coating the end portion of steel strip with a lubricant prepd. by uniformly dispersing graphite and a boric acid/higher fatty acid composite amine salt in a base oil followed by rolling. CONSTITUTION:A lubricant prepd. by uniformly dispersing graphite and a boric acid/higher fatty acid composite amine salt such as a salt of tributylamine with orthoboric acid/lauric, palmitic, stearic or oleic acid, or a mixture thereof in a base oil such as beef tallow or fatty acid pentaerylthritol ester, is applied to the end portion of a steel strip and/or a roll end contacting with the steel strip at each stand entry side for the rolling stock and the steel strip is rolled. Lubricity at the end portion is enhanced, the rolling unit is reduced and the product profile is improved because the applied lubricant is retained in all the amt. or in a large amt. at the end portion without flowing toward the middle and is excellent in lubricating properties. |
