In the case of a filling substance for longitudinally sealing electrical and/or optical cables and lines which comprises at least partly gas-containing hollow bodies of small cubic content enveloped by a viscous substance, the wall of the hollow bodies consists of a flexible substance (that is a material which, after great deformation, returns to the original position), the wall thickness is 1 DIVIDED 50 to 1 DIVIDED 10 of the maximum extent of the hollow bodies. The material of the wall consists of crosslinked thermoplastics, thermoelastics or elastomers.
