PURPOSE:To obtain a superior toner uniform in size, perfectly spherical in shape, and especially uniform in electrostatic characteristics, by melting or dissolving a colorant and a binder, finely dividing the obtained liquid in the air, and collecting the fine particles in a liquid. CONSTITUTION:A colorant, such as carbon black or ultramarine blue, and a noncrystalline binder, such as paraffin wax or polyethylene, high in solidifying speed are melted and mixed, or polystyrene or epoxy resin, or the like is dissolved into a proper solvent, and mixed with a colorant, the obtd. liq. mixture is ejected by using a rotary disc atomizer or such a liquid feeder 1, and applying electrostatic voltage between an opposite wall 3 and a voltage source 2. At the same time, a collecting liquid supplied from a collecting liquid supply tank 6 is fed into the opposite wall 3, and the produced fine particles 4 are drawn out from the bottom 5 of the wall 3, thus obtaining a toner perfectly spherical in shape, uniform in size, especially uniform in electrostatic characteristics, and capable of forming a sharp image. |
