PURPOSE:To decide a proper kind of flocculant and a proper amt. of it to be added rapidly, easily, and exactly, by adding flocculants to each prescribed amt. of sludge, centrifugally separating the sludge in an centrifugal deposition tube, and measuring the hardness of the deposit in the tube by a penetrometer. CONSTITUTION:A sludge sample is placed into several beakers each by a prescribed amt., and samples with or without flocculant added are prepared. Prescribed amts. of them are placed into centrifugal deposition tubes 1 and they are fitted to each holder 2. The holders 2 are fixed to the rotor 12 of a swing- type centrifugal separator and the rotor is rotated to execute centrifugal deposition. Then, the rotor is stopped and the supernatant is removed with a pipette or the like. The tube 1 is set under a penetrometer in a state held in the holder 2 and penetration is measured, thus permitting rapid, easy, and exact decision of a kind of flocculant and an amt. of it to be added on these data. |
