A cigarette filter comprises a tobacco smoke filtering core (2), an inner sleeve (4) engaged around the core, a tubular body (6) of air-permeable material around the inner sleeve, and an outer wrapper (10) engaged around the tubular body. The arrangement is such that in use the majority of the smoke stream passes to the smokers mouth along the core and the majority of the ventilating air drawn in through the outer wrapper passes to the smokers mouth along the region between inner sleeve and outer wrapper. The outer wrapper may be the tipping overwrap joining the filter to the wrapped tobacco rod (12) of the filter cigarette. Overwrap (10) may have ventilating perforations (14) opening directly into grooves (8) in the periphery of the tubular body. <IMAGE> |
