PURPOSE:To obtain an optical amplification receiver which has excellent temperature characteristics and a wide range of optical reception levels, by performing control of optical amplification factor with control of the driving level of an optical amplifier by making use of the fact that the amplification factor of an optical amplifier is varied by the driving level. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of an optical wave detector 5 is amplified and equalized by an electric amplifying circuit 6 and led to a terminal 7 and a control circuit 8. The circuit 8 compares the output signal level of the circuit 6 with a certain reference level and controls the driving current (optical amplification factor) supplied from a driving circuit 9 of an optical amplifier 3 so that the output signal level of the circuit 6 is always kept at the prescribed value. Therefore the output current of the circuit 9 is controlled so as to compensate the variations of the amplification factor of the amplifier 3 if caused by a change of the ambient temperature. As a result, the amplification factor of the amplifier 3 is always kept at a constant level despite the change of the ambient temperature. |
