PURPOSE:To perform excellent cleaning and to form an electrophotographic image of good quality, by cleaning the surface of a photosensitive layer mechanically after discharging a direct current to the opposite polarity to the charge of toner. CONSTITUTION:Once a DC discharging electrode 6 discharges a direct current to the opposite polarity to the charge of the toner, the electrical attracting force of excessive toner on the surface of the photosensitive layer of a photoreceptor 1 is reduced. Then, a load on the blade 7 of a mechanical cleaning device is reduced and the excessive toner is removed excellently. Thus, the excellent cleaning is carried out to form the electrophotographic image of good quality. |
