PURPOSE:To provide stuffing for packing which prevents solidifying of molten in the nozzle at the bottom end of a ladle by forming a capsule of a refractory granular material coated with a thermosetting resin and packing a refractory material in the capsule. CONSTITUTION:When a refractory granular material (RCS) 3 coated with a thermosetting resin such as a phenolic resin is cast into a metal mold 4 heated to a prescribed temp., the RCS3 sticks on the circumferential surface of a cavity 5 and the coating resin sets, thereby forming a shell 6 of a suitable thickness. The unset RCS3 is removed and the mold 4 is opened to obtain a capsule 1. A refractory material 2 such as coke particles is packed in the capsule 1 and the opening thereof is closed with a cover 4, such as aluminum foil, which can be easily ruptured. Stuffing A is thus formed, and is installed in the nozzle of a tuyere. Silica sand of >=90% SiO2 purity is used for the refractory granular material and is coated with 0.5-3.0 parts resin based on 100 parts the silica sand. |
