PURPOSE:To increase the monitoring accuracy, by judging at a certain time interval whether there exist one or two threads, and judging as an abnormal knot when the number of times judges that there exist two threads exceeds on averages a prescribed number, in an apparatus for monitoring knots of a thread in an automatic spooling machine. CONSTITUTION:When knots of a thread passe a detector 1 for detecting the thickness of the thread, the detector 1 issues a signal of a level exceeding a reference value by a time interval corresponding to the length between the knots of the thread, and the signal is amplified at 2 and is compared at a comparator 3 with a reference value 4. An FF5 is set by the output of the comparator 3, an oscillator 6 starts oscillations, and the pulses of the oscillations are counted by an updown counter 7. In this case, if the knot is abnormal, since the output level L1 of the detector continues a level higher than a reference value level L2 for a prescribed period, the counted value of the counter 7 increases, and when this value reaches a prescribed value, a cutter 8 is actuated to cut the thread. |
