PURPOSE:To obtain a display which has a long life, is always sharp, and has high quality by dissolving or dispersing coloring agents of which the dissolving temp. is higher by a specific value or above than the b. p. of the display liquid of a display element by heating and foaming of a liquid layer to said display liquid. CONSTITUTION:A display liquid 2 which constitutes a liquid layer is prepd. by contg. fine particles of dyes or pigments soluble in a liquid mixture of water and nonaqueous solvents (alcohols, hydrocarbon solvents, etc.) as coloring agents in water or said solvents having <=130 deg.C b. p. alone or the liquid mixture thereof. The decomposition temp. of these coloring agents are higher by >=30 deg.C than the b. p. of the liquid. If the liquid 2 is foamed by image-wise irradiation of a laser beam 5 or the like from the side of a radiation absorbing layer sandwiching said liquid, the rays 7 from the transparent protecting plate 3 side and scattered and reflected by the foam 4 differ distinctly in hue, lightness and saturation from the other parts; therefore, the display having good sharpness and contrast is obtained always stably. |
