<p>The electric connector has a single-piece insulator (10) made from a semi-elastic polymer such as nylon and having a number of opening parallel passages (12) which house the contacts (14). Thr passages are formed between two parallel faces (18,20) of the insulator, one face (18) being the contact input face surrounded by a sleeve or collar (22) integral with the insulator. Each passage (12) is cylindrical but has, between its extremities, a set of three internal projections (16) which each have an input slope which increases progressively from the passage surface and a retaining face perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the passage. The contacts (14) have the general form of a cylindrical socket whose dia. is equal to that of a circle inscribed in the projections (16), but have two radially enlarged parts which cooperate with the slope of introduction by a sufficient distance for the projections to have their normal practically non-deformed configuration between the two enlarged parts. The given projection configuration ensures that while only a weak force is required to introduce the contacts into the connector, a much greater force is required in order to retract them.</p> |
