A porous polymeric material, which in tube form is suitable as a vessel implant, is proposed. It is produced by a process in which polymer fibres are wound up onto a mandrel in such a way that they lie one over the other, at the same time being bonded to one another. In the case of a preferred embodiment, a viscous solution of a biocompatible polymer is extruded from a spinneret into a number of filaments, which are wound up onto a rotating mandrel, while the spinneret reciprocates with respect to the mandrel. The filaments are wet when they touch one another, so that once the solvent has evaporated the fibres are bonded to one another. |
