PURPOSE:To prevent any generation of creases or the like during rolling work by covering the inner and the outer circumference surfaces of a long electrode plate with separators, and joining the inner separator to the outer separator after stretching the inner separator in its longitudinal direction, and being followed by performing the rolling work. CONSTITUTION:A battery is constituted by rolling into spiral form a long negative plate 1, which consists of a lithium plate 2 and a current-collecting body 3, and a long positive plate 5, which is formed by making a positive mixture 6 to be held on a current-collecting body 7, with separators 8 provided on the surface of the positive plate 5. Here, after an inner and an outer separator 8a and 8b are provided over the entire surface of the positive plate 5, the inner separator 8a is slightly stretched in its longitudinal direction by means of stretching rolls 16a and 16b, the end of the stretched separator 8a is fused to the end of the outer separator 8a, and thus obtained unified body is subjected to rolling work. As a result, since the stretched separator 8a tends to return back to the original unstretched state, the rolling work can be performed while highly maintaining the close contacts between the members, without causing any irregular creases. |
