The apparatus comprises a float (17), a generator (21) and a motion- transferring mechanism (26-45) therebetween comprising an energy accumulator, e.g. a helical spring (36), which becomes wound up or tensioned as a result of the upward movement of the float (17) in the float chamber (14). A tripping mechanism (35) becomes operative when the helical spring (36) has become so tightly wound that it overcomes the locking force of the tripping mechanism (35), the released spring force thereby driving the generator. The float (17) is incorporated in a float chamber (14) built into a boat (13), a buoy or the like, the chamber having a water inlet pipe (5) open toward the water. The generator (21) and motion-transferring mechanism (26-45) are disposed in a housing (1) which also comprises the float chamber (14). The housing is preferably mounted in a cradle-shaped step bearing (4) which can be mounted in a boat, buoy or the like, which permits the position of the housing (1) and thereby the float chamber (14) to be adjusted about the axis of the cradle so that the float chamber can be brought into a desired vertical position independently of the slope of the boat hull. <IMAGE> |
