PURPOSE:To remove various hindrances to a printing head of a serial printer due to a heat, by fitting a temperature detecting element to the printing head and by stopping a printing operation based on a detection signal from the temperature detecting element. CONSTITUTION:A printing information inputted in an interface circuit IFC is stored in a line buffer circuit LBF and supplied to a wire drive circuit WDC via a gate G, and thereby printing is started. When the temperature of a printing head rises to a set temperature h2 with the printing operation, the contact of the bimetallic element BIM of a temperature detecting element 9 is closed, and according thereto, a printer control circuit PRC takes the logical product of the output signal of the bimetallic element BIM and the monitoring signal of a line buffer monitoring circuit LPE and closes the gate G. When the printing is discontinued, the temperature of the printing head falls, and the contact of the bimetallic element I is opened at the temperature h3. |
