PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform image which is not affected by a mechanical vibration and has no toner coagulation, by forming a developer carrier into an elastic hollow cylinder and dispersing the pressure, which is applied to a developer at a pressurizing time, by subjecting to deformation of this carrier. CONSTITUTION:A toner 7 is send to an electrostatic latent image 2 by the rotation of a hollow and cylindrical developer carrier 3 consisting of an elastic material and is pressurized and brought into contact with the latent image 2 to develop 10. In this case, the shape of the carrier 3 is deformed because the carrier 3 is hollow, and the pressure is not applied concentratedly but dispersed, and therefore, the pressure to the layer of the toner 7 is low, and coagulation of the toner 7 is not generated. Further, a photosensitive layer on a holding material 1 is not destroyed mechanically, and setting of development conditions is facilitated. The width of contacting between the holding material 1 and the carrier 3 is 5-15mm. and is 2-5 times as wide as a conventional width to prevent the development variance due to the mechanical vibration, and the effect of a bias 11 is improved, thus obtaining a good image without fog. |
