摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent dissociation of CO2 molecule generated after the starting of discharge and to increase the laser output, in the sealed type carbon dioxide gas laser oscillator, by providing an oxide catalyst support having a catalyst ability at a room temperature and a platinum catalyst layer which is coated on the support on the wall of a laser tube constituting a discharge region. CONSTITUTION:The laser tube 11 is constituted by a dual tube of a discharge region 16 and a cooling water tube 15 which surrounds the region 16. A total reflecting mirror 13 is provided on one end of the discharge region 16, and an output coupling mirror 12 is formed at the other end. A laser beam 21 is emitted from the mirror 12. Openings are provided in the vicinity of both ends of the discharge region 16. An electrode part comprising a negative electrode 18 and a positive electrode 19 which are accommodated in said openings is provided and welded to the region 16. A laser exciting power source 20 is connected to the electrodes 18 and 19. In this constitution, the oxide such as MnO2 is deposited on the inner surface of the discharge region 16 as a catalyst support, and the catalyst layer 17 on which Pt is supported is formed by ion exchange. In this way, Pt-MnO2 spillover catalyst is provided, and catalyst activity at a room temperature is increased.
