PURPOSE:To reduce the number of channels, by regarding the whole packet on a communication line as data, preparing a packet in a composite exchange newly by adding a header including a protocol discrimination code and executing the multiple transfer of the packet in a switching network for communication. CONSTITUTION:A packet PKT on a communication line of which data part is enveloped by synchronous codes FLAG1, and input to subscriber's circuits LC1- LCN. When the circuits LC1-LCN discriminate the arrival of the data part, the data part is sent to a packet multiplex device PM. The device PM prepares a header HD including a subscriber's protocol discrimination code and an originating subscriber's code and forms a packet PKTC in a composite exchange in the sequence of the synchronous code FLAG2, header, packet and code FLAG 2. The packet PKTC is multiplied and sent to a packet exchange processor PE through a communication switch network SW. The device PE checks the header HD in the PKTC and executes processing in accordance with the protocol format. |
