PURPOSE:To make the connecting operation of optical fibers quick and sure by providing means for positioning and holding the succeeding end part of an optical fiber piece held in a core and the preceding end part of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A worked optical fiber piece 21 is assembled in a core 13 by adhering and fixing in the stage for production of a device body 2 and cores. On the site, the sheath 10 and a ''Kevler '' 8 in the preceding end of an optical fiber cable 1 are stripped for a specified length and a covering layer 8 is stripped for a prescribed length as well to expose the preceding end side of an optical fiber 7, whereafter a ''Kevler '' 9 is grasped between a retaining ring 11 and the body 2, and the exposed end part 7a is butted to the fiber piece 21b and is set in a groove 22. After a pressing body 20 is fitted to a base 19, a lock pin 23 is inserted into a pin insertion hole 24, whereby the fibers are fixed and connected. Since only the operation of positioning and holding the part 7a into a holder 18 is required on the site, the connecting operation is made quick and sure. |
