A single-track or multi-track vehicle has a foot drive which is composed of two pedal levers (4) which are arranged above the front wheel, are mounted pivotably and are alternately operable. Via tensile members (8), the force of the pedal levers (4) is transmitted to free-wheel drums (9, 9') which cooperate with a conventional chain drive with driving sprocket (12), chain (53) and rear-wheel sprocket (13). The tensile members for the two pedal levers are preferably connected to one another at their rear end and guided by a deflection pulley (11). By operating the pedal levers (4) simultaneously, the deflection pulley (11), which is pushed by spring force (14) into its one end position, is pulled out of this end position and, as a result, vehicle brakes (17, 18) can be operated. The saddle of the vehicle has a backrest (59) on which the pelvis of the rider is supported so that between thighs and lower legs and the backrest (59) and the pedals (6) a toggle effect is obtained which results in an optimum utilisation of force. The points of application of force of the tensile members (8) on the pedal levers (4) can be infinitely adjusted during the journey and, as a result, the lever arm effecting the drive in each case can be infinitely adjusted. To this end, the pedal levers (4) are preferably of circular design so that when the point of application of force of the tensile members is displaced, no change in length of the tensile members is required.
