In a device for holding a boat which is to be transported over a dry surface, such as a sandy beach or the like, having a chassis (6) which engages below the boat to be held and is provided with support elements (7) which roll on the undersurface, excellent off-road running can be achieved by virtue of the fact that the chassis is constructed as a tracklaying truck (6 and 18, respectively) with at least one endless support element (7) which runs over deflection devices (8).
