In magnetic foot stands (10) for guiding a drilling machine (15), in order that it is not possible to work on non-magnetic workpieces or at an inclination of more than a tolerable angle, there is a circuit arrangement for monitoring the magnetic field and the inclination angle. The magnetic field is monitored by means of a magnetic probe (S) in the base circuit of a transistor (TR) and the inclination angle is monitored using an inclination angle switch (TS) in the emitter circuit of the transistor (TR). Located in the collector circuit is the coil of a relay (R) of which one make contact (RB) is arranged in the machine circuit and connects the machine circuit only when the magnetic field is built up and the machine tool is within an angle with respect to the vertical. <IMAGE>
