In an overhead projector arm consisting of a housing which is closed at the top by a transilluminated writing table serving as bearing surface for the projection original, a projector arm mounted on the housing, and a projector head which is mounted on the projector arm and holds the lens and deflecting mirror, the aim is to achieve the object of allowing a dark phase to occur between the projection of two originals even in the case of an overhead projector. The invention achieves this object by arranging at least one pushbutton of the brightness device on the edge of the writing table or next to the writing table in an area covered by the projection film. In this embodiment of the overhead projector, brightness control is provided by means of which the brightness of the projection lamp is controlled.
