PURPOSE:To detect and screen defects of liquid crystal panels surely, by including a stage of applying high voltage between two sheets of electrode plates so that the electrode plates near the conductive foreign materials are burnt when the foreign materials are contained therein. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrode plates 3, 4 are provided on the inside surfaces of light transmittable substrates 1, 2 consisting of glass or plastics. The substrates 1, 2 are held at a specified micro gap by means of a sealing material 5, and liquid crystals 6 are injected in the cell formed by the same. In the figure, conductive foreign materials 7a, 7b are incorporated in the liquid crystals 6, and several 10- several 100V voltage is applied between the plates 3 and 4. Even if the voltage near the driving voltage for the liquid crystals is applied, the electrodes 3, 4 are not shorted to each other and are not judged to be defective. However, if such high voltage is applied, the plates 3, 4 burn of discolor near the material 7a, or the liquid crystals are decomposed. The defectiveness and nondefectiveness of the liquid crystal panels are decided by measuring the current value or resistance value between the plates 3 and 4 in this state. |
