PURPOSE:To facilitate fitting and detaching of a ribbon cassette, by a method wherein a ribbon cassette holding plate is rotatably provided, and a multi-stage stopper capable of holding the plate at a printing position and a ribbon cassette fitting and detaching position is provided. CONSTITUTION:The ribbon cassette 2d incorporating an ink ribbon 1b is detachably fitted to the ribbon cassette holding plate 3. The holding plate 3 is positioned in a vertical direction, and is rotatably fitted to a carrier frame 5 through a shaft 4 at an upper part thereof. From a printing condition wherein a projection 8a of an engaging member 8 is engaged with a stopper hole 7b of the multi-stage stopper 7 (the plate 3 is vertical), the plate 3 is rotated by 90 deg. to be in a horizontal condition, the projection 8a of the engaging member 8 is engaged with a stopper hole 7a of the stopper 7, and under this condition, the ribbon cassette 2d is fitted or detached. |
