<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of an electric power steering device provided with a rotating angle detector, by dividing a steering shaft into two parts in the axial direction, thereby a slip angle between both shaft parts is detected through a specific sleeve and a positional detector which are arranged in the coupled part of the shaft parts. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 2 rotates clockwise when a steering wheel is rotated clockwise. However, due to the presence of resistance at the wheel side, torsional torque is exerted between both shafts 2, 4 so that a resilient member 18 in a coupling 16 is twisted, and therefore, a slip is bought about between both shafts 2, 4. Thereby, a sleeve 5 is slipped toward the shaft 2 due to the lead angle of an elongated hole 5b and a pin 20. This slippage is detected by a positional detector 21 through a frange 5a, and therefore a motor is rotated through a controller 8, for rotating the shaft 4 clockwise. The similar step is taken for the counterclockwise rotation of the shaft 4. With this arrangement, the assemblying of the steering device is simplified and its practicability may be enhanced.</p> |
