PURPOSE:To prevent definite density unevenness and discontinuous points of a line drawing, by fading joints of output signals of each solid-state element, in performing the original reading for a copying machine, or facsimile, etc. with plural solid-state scanning elements. CONSTITUTION:An original 1 is sub-scanned in the vertical direction to this paper, the left half in the main scanning direction is projected on the 1st solid- state scanning element 3 with the 1st lens 2, and the right half is projected on the 2nd sensor 5 with the 2nd lens 4, the output signals of both sensors are synthesized to obtain reading signals for the full width of the original 1. Although there is a difference DELTAV between outputs V4, V5 of both sensors 3, 5, the switching position C of the outputs of both sensors 3, 5 is changed for fading in the range of an overlapped reading portion lO. In this case, every time the reading in the main scanning direction is executed, the switching position is selected to an arbitrary bit location including between the A and B, the steep change in the output is mitigated to avoid distinction, or the output of one sensor is decreased and the other sensor output is increased to obtain the sum of the both for the realization. |
