The ferrule (2) is fitted to the lower extremity of a tubular walking stick and is made of rubber or similar material. It has an axial hole (4), reinforced by a sleeve (5), through which a point (11), is fixed to the lower extremity of a second tube (8), can be pushed out. This is coaxial to the stick and can slide inside it, between two positions, either with the point retracted or with it projecting. A projection (15) is pushed out by a spring (16) through a hole in the inner tube and can engage in one of two corresponding holes (13, 14) in the stick.
