PURPOSE:To display the 3rd data when necessary by reproducing the 3rd data separately from the 1st and 2nd data. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd video data 27, 28 and sound data 29 recorded in a magnetic tape 22 are respectively reproduced by rotary heads 11-1, 11-2 and a magnetic head 20. On the other hand, information 30 such as characters in the 3rd data is reproduced by a character reproducing magnetic head 13 separately from the data 27-29 or the like, and when necessary, supplied to a data synthesizer 19. Thereby, the display of the character information can be optionally switched in accordance with necessity.
