PURPOSE:To obtain an optical branching and mixing device of less insertion losses and to make the manufacture of optical fiber bundles easy by constituting a cofocal lens of two pieces of lenses between optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:A cofocal system wherein the focuses 15 of two elements of lenses 13, 14 are made coincident is disposed between an optical fiber 1 and 2-8. The focal planes of the lenses 13, 14 are disposed at the respective end faces of the fibers 1, 2-8. All the light emitted in parallel with a lens axis 11 from the fiber 1 is made incident to the fiber 2 in parallel therewith. Thus, the need for manufacturing fiber bundles radially is eliminated, and the optical branching and mixing device which is easy to manufacture and has less insertion losses is obtained. |
