A device for cooling and keeping cool a product to be cooled, in particular keg beer, is characterised in that a cooling device is designed as a cooling base. At least one beer keg and possibly even a number of beer kegs can be installed or mounted on such a cooling device which has in its upper region a cooled plate. This cooled plate, preferably a metal plate, with which the product to be cooled can be brought directly into contact, is cooled by a suitable cooling medium to a presettable temperature.
