PURPOSE:To obtain a laser recording medium with improved shelf stability and an improved S/N ratio by using plastics as the material of a substrate and by forming a thin film of a cyanine dye on the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A soln. of a cyanine dye represented by the formula (where R is alkyl and X is halogen) such as ''NK-123 '' of NIPPON KANKO SHIKISO KENKYUSHO is coated onto a plastic substrate such as an acrylic resin plate having about 1mm. thickness by means of a spinner in <= about 1,000Angstrom thickness, and it is dried to form a thin film of the cyanine dye. Laser light such as He-Ne laser light or semiconductor laser light is preferably applied to the resulting laser recording medium. |
