PURPOSE:To provide a printer which does not pollute a recording medium by keeping ink from being left from the tip surface of an ink spill-preventing member facing a recording medium made of a specified material at the tip surface of a wire retaining member having an ink reservoir. CONSTITUTION:An ink spill-preventing member 5 is made of a fluorocarbon resin or the like in such a manner that the contact angle theta between the surface of an ink 6 and the wall surface of a hole 5a exceeds 90 deg. at the end of the contact section between the wall surface of the hole 5a therein and the ink 6. The ink 6 in an ink reservoir 7 is made to exude to a retaining hole 4 and the hole 5a by a tension thereof and a wire 10 is projected therefrom to form a dot. The ink left at the tip of the wire 10 is allowed to return to the hole 5a and the retaining hole 4 by its own surface tension as the wire 10 moves back to the retaining hole 4. Thus, only a little amount of ink is left at the tip of the ink spill-preventing member 5 and thus, does not pollute a recording medium 2. |
