PURPOSE:To prevent channeling when it is liable to occur in the operation of a blast furnace by reducing the opening degree of a by-pass valve for a top pressure turbine in accordance with the opening degree of the valve of a top pressure controller so as to maintain top pressure equal to that during normal operation even in case of a small volume of fed air. CONSTITUTION:When conditions under which channeling is liable to occur are produced in the operation of a blast furnace, an auxiliary bypass valve is changed over from the fully opened state to a perfectly closed state at the time when a top pressure turbine is stopped. The opening degree of a main by-pass valve is then reduced suitably in accordance with the opening degree of the valve of a top pressure controller while reading it. Thus, a margin is provided to the opening degree of the valve of the controller, and high top pressure equal to that during normal operation is maintained even in case of a small volume of fed air to prevent channeling. |
