PURPOSE:To obtain a lead storage battery having a high initial performance and an excellent life performance by making ion exchange resins having grain diameters within the range of 0.1-1mum to be contained in a separator used for the battery. CONSTITUTION:Equal amounts of a strongly basic anion exchange resin (styrene system) and a strongly acidic cation exchange resin having grain diameters within the range of 0.1-1mum are mixed. Next, a separator plate for a lead storage battery is impregnated with the mixture to the extent of 0.3-5g per separator (corresponding to the surface area of 2dm<2>) of the solid part of the mixture. After such an impregnation work, drying work is performed at 50 deg.C so as to obtain a separator. By interposing the separator obtained in such a manner as above between a positive plate and a negative plate, a lead battery with a high initial performance can be obtained. |
