PURPOSE:To discriminate the size, by setting addresses while searching intermusic with an output of an address sensor and an intermusic sensor provided at a pickup arm, registering the intermusic, and comparing the address with an address set in response to a disc size. CONSTITUTION:In starting a pickup arm 5 at a rest position A with an operation panel (not shown), the arm is turned to a position C with a motor 9 and a mechanism driving system 7. The system is switched to an electromagnetic drive DD system (not shown), high-speed lead-in is performed an address sensor provided at the arm 5 starts the count, and every time an intermusic sensor provided at the tip of the arm 5 detects the intermusic, the address is registered from the innermost circumference. The address of the intermusic at the outermost circumference registered and a size discriminating address set in response to each disc size are compared to discriminate the size of a disc. Thus, the size is discriminated surely at the lead-in. |
