PURPOSE:To enable vegetation in a desert, by a method wherein recesses are formed in a desert to form a water impermeable layer, and a mixture of smoked chaff coal being excellent in water retention characteristics and earth brought from another place and mixed in soil is refilled in the recesses to form a planting layer. CONSTITUTION:Weir plates 1 are driven into a desert so as to form a square measuring about 50m in a side, and sand 2 at the inside of the weir body 1 is excavated down to a depth of about 1m to form a recess 3. A water-proofing sheet 4 is placed in the concavity 3, and the ends are secured by a fixed frame 5 to form a water impermeable layer. Cultured soil, prepared by mixing smoked chaff coal 6, earth brought from another place and mixed in soil, fertilizer, are charged thereon to form a planting layer 7. Irrigating pipes 8 supported by support frames 15 are installed in the planting layer 7, while seeds 9 are scattered on the planting layer 7, and a ground surface is covered with a protecting sheet 10 having holes 11. Further, a light-shielding cloth 14 is spread thereon to shield direct rays in the daytime and prevent dissipation of heat in the nighttime. |
