PURPOSE:To easily detect the life of a type belt by such an arrangement wherein a protruded point lower than the height of a type is provided as part of the type and the apperance of a printed image of the protruded point is constantly monitored. CONSTITUTION:A protruded point 10 lower than height H or a type is provided between a type (especially a type of which frequency of use is high, or which is simple in configuration) and a type clock 9 for recognizing the type provided on a type belt 8, as part of the type. When the height H of the type becomes equal to the height of the protruded point 10 as the wear of the type belt 8 progresses after use for a long time, the protruded point 10 is printed and shown as part of the type when it is printed by a hammer 3, and at this point of time, it is judged that the type belt 8 is to be replaced as it is substantially worn out. |
