PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive easily prepared product, by a method wherein channels provided to the outer peripheral part of a monolithic carrier are coated only with activated alumina and channels provided to the central part thereof with activated alumina and a noble metal. CONSTITUTION:The interior of a catalyst carrier member 1 is constituted into a monolithic form made of ceramics wherein plural channels 2 are formed in parallel with the axial direction thereof and, to each channels 2 provided to the outer peripheral part of the member 1, only activated alumina coatings are applied while alumina coatings 3 and nobel metal coatings 4 are applied to each channels 2 provided to the central part thereof. By this mechanism, because the amount to be used of a noble metal is conserved, the catalyst carrier member 1 is made inexpensive and the preparation thereof is made simple and easy. |
