In an electrical vacuum switch, the contacts are provided with circular or annular contact surfaces. In order to achieve a high arc base speed, the contacts and the contact surfaces are split by slots at right angles to the circular ring axis around the outline circumference, in the region of the interruption point. According to the invention, the contacts consist of a cast part having high electrical conductivity. In this case, the slots are formed in each case by inserts which are cast into the blank and consist of a material having a relatively poor electrical conductivity.
