The invention relates to a packaging tray made of foldable material for food, in particular frozen food, having side walls which can be folded apart, consisting of a bottom wall with side walls projecting therefrom and with connecting areas which are arranged between the side walls, which connect two side walls in each case and are separated from them by folding lines. For erecting the side walls and folding the connecting areas inwards, the latter have in each case a diagonally extending folding line, starting from the four corners of the bottom wall, and a cutout. Stamped sections are arranged in each connecting area forming a fastening and in two side walls of four side walls forming two fastenings in each case, the cutout being located within the connecting areas in the half, formed by the diagonal folding line, not containing the fastening. When the side walls are erected and the connecting areas are folding over the folding lines thereof, the fastening of the connecting area comes to rest above the fastening of the adjacent side wall, the fastening of the connecting area likewise coming to rest on the cutout and both fastenings being connected to one another through the cutout.
